Locally made, flexible furniture for urban nomads
May 29, 2017
Vancouver furniture designer, Christian Blyt has created a line of flexible furniture that favours eco-minded supplies and creates little waste. His motto is "do more with less." In this day and age, people are moving from one region to another more than ever before, and because of this, furniture that is lightweight, durable and easy to transport makes all sorts of sense for today's urban nomads.
Blyt is an Associate Professor in Industrial Design and Coordinator of the Innovations in Wood Design program at Emily Carr. He's also the founder of Studio Corelam, a Vancouver based company which produces intelligent designs informed by modern day living. Blyt hopes that his products will strike a chord with people looking to reevaluate their consumption practices.
"What we're trying to do is create a paradigm shift of how people use materials and how they interact with materials in their lives," Christian says.
You'll find a coat rack/shelf, a cylindrial stool, and a leaning shelf in Studio Corelam's Tidal collection. Interested in learning more and getting your hands on these stunning pieces? Check out Blyt's Kickstarter Campaign and support local design!
