Happening this weekend: The West 4th Avenue Khatsahlano Street Party!
July 04, 2017
The West 4th Avenue Khatsahlano Street Party is Vancouver’s largest free Music + Arts Festival, and it's happening this Saturday, July 8th from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm on West 4th Avenue, between Burrard and MacDonald.
Khatsahlano, features multiple stages showcasing more than 50 of Vancouver’s top musical performers as well as the eclectic work of local artisans and street performers.
I snagged this snippet from the Khatsahlano website which reveals the purpose of the festival.
"The festival’s main idea is to convey and preserve the true spirit of West 4th – a laid back atmosphere that inspires one to be creative. Acknowledging its vibrant past and praising the character of the area, Khatsahlano Street Party also echoes the hippie paradise of the 60’s, when the street was home to head shops, vegetarian restaurants and record stores. Back then this inexpensive area to live with a proximity to the beach, Kitsilano attracted free spirits for the lifestyle it offered."
In the past 10 years Kitsilano real estate prices have become some of the highest prices Vancouver because of its epic panoramic views, short commutes to the beach, and proximity to Downtown. While strolling along West 4th this weekend, you'll get to check out the various organic markets, spas, yoga studios, fashion boutiques, active lifestyle retailers, and award winning resturants.
