Giant Mural Coming to Granville Island

Brazilian twins “Osgemeos” chose the concrete plant silos that dominate the Ocean Concrete plant on Granville Island for a massive work to commemorate the upcoming Vancouver Biennale. The six 70-foot-tall concrete silos will become a huge piece of public art, viewable from 360 degrees and aptly named, “GIANTS”.

The silos have started their transformation, first with a deep clean, and then with artist-approved layers of paint which will form the base for their work. Later this month, the Brazilian street artists will transform the silos into a monster mural covering more than 23,500 square feet.

This will be the Canadian debut for the Brazilian duo, who are the darlings of the global contemporary art scene. Detail work will commence this week, and the unveiling is slated for September 7th, 2014. Stay tuned to the skyline for updates!
